Hilarious! On Friday, Aleta and I stepped into Home Depot to pick up a few things for our latest project - repairing our back yard shed. We grabbed the big cart and zoomed down the plywood aisle. I went up high on the racks to grab a sheet of 3/8 inch thick plywood and then we put it on our cart. Years ago I learned a little trick in these big home stores. If you have a big rack of lumber in your cart, and you still need to pick up little stuff in the store, the smartest thing to do is to stash your loaded cart in a corner out of the way and then go get the rest of your stuff. So Aleta and I stashed my own sheet of plywood and then we went to go look at a house plant, and grab some nails. We grabbed everything else and then made our way back to our cart. As we were walking past the self check out line I spotted this older man standing in line with the same kind of cart we had with one single piece of plywood. I saw it and thought, "Nah. It couldn't be. It can't be the same thickness of plywood." Then we walked past the man and it was the exact same thickness of plywood but I still thought, "No way. That can't be my plywood." As we rounded the corner I looked and sure enough that man had taken my cart and my sheet of plywood in his possession and he was checking out with it. I just started to crack up out loud in Home Depot because I've never had that happen. Think about the odds. That guy apparently came to Home Depot to get exactly one, just one, sheet of 3/8 plywood and I happened to be the guy to pull it off the top rack for him so that he could check out with it. What was going through his mind? "Wow! This place has the best service. I just walk down the aisle and Bam! the exact kind of plywood I need already on a cart." All I could do was just laugh and pull down another sheet of plywood because what would I even say to the guy?I guess the moral of the story is that you never know how you are going to make someone else's day even if it wasn't what you originally planned.
