Does anyone want to guess what my Easter morning message is going to be about this coming Sunday? There are many Sunday's when part of my joy as a pastor is the opportunities I'm given to surprise people with a fresh new insight or a surprising discovery from God's word. Easter doesn't hold any new surprises or discoveries from the bible - it's the same story every Easter. Jesus rose from the grave after He'd suffered and died on a cross. But even though it's the same story, I guess what makes our holy days (Christmas and Easter) amazing isn't so much that they tell us shiny new things we didn't know - it's that they remind us of spectacular things we have forgotten. So this week, as I prepare to declare the good news that Jesus died and rose again, I want to be reminded of the spectacular things I've known but have forgotten.
