Dear God, What's With Our "Selfie" Spirituality?

. . . And another thing Father. The last time I checked Jesus told His disciples in Matt. 6:5 “When you pray, you are not to be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on the street corners so that they may be seen by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full." In many ways, I know am the pot calling the kettle black when I post my private concerns so publicly in this blog. I get that I am worthy of such a critique. However, it doesn't stop me from confessing my feelings. It worries me dear Father to see all the instagram posts, facebook updates, and blog posts presenting the best version of our spiritual selves as opposed to the reality of our lives. All of our technology is quickly becoming a new, and far more widely published, way of standing "on the street corners so that we may be seen by men." This is the very thing you taught us to avoid.  The world doesn't need to see the best, edited version of our spiritual lives. The world needs us to be authentic, humble and honest. Father, bring me, and bring us into a new level of humility and honesty. . .
