Mean People Part II

Read what David says to God as he struggles with very mean people in his life.Give ear to my words, O LORD, consider my sighing. Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God, for to you I pray. In the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation. You are not a God who takes pleasure in evil; with you the wicked cannot dwell. The arrogant cannot stand in your presence; you hate all who do wrong. You destroy those who tell lies; bloodthirsty and deceitful men the LORD abhors. But I, by your great mercy, will come into your house; in reverence will I bow down toward your holy temple. Psalm 5:1 - 7David simply asks God to listen to his prayer and then he sorts through the question, "Why do I believe God will even respond to my prayer?" That is an important question to consider. Why would a holy God even care about our concerns? David concludes, “God I know you will respond to my prayer because you respond to those who throw themselves at your mercy, and I know you will respond to me, not because I am perfect, but because it's in your character to show 'great mercy' - to show faithful and loyal love.”When we're dealing with the junk-yard-dog mean people in our lives we need to approach God based on who He actually is not based on our emotional opinions about Him. We need to know that our God will hear when we cry out to Him. We need to know that our God will be attentive to our concerns, not because we’ve earned it, but because it’s in His nature to be loyal to those who throw themselves at His mercy.
