Real Strength

We've all been indoctrinated to believe that real strength is having the ability to do what I want when I want. In other words strength = independence. We think that the less we need any help, the stronger we are. But according to Jesus, this is nowhere close to being true. Jesus tells us in John 15:5 that "apart from me, you can do nothing." Jesus doesn’t say, “apart from me you won’t get as much done” - leaving us the possibility of thinking “I could get a lot done on my own, but Jesus just helps me get more done.” No Jesus says, “apart from me you can do nothing – nadanilzip!”In the end strength = dependence. And the greater and more glorious the one we depend upon, the stronger we become. Thus the strongest is the one who is most dependent on God.
